Few patches can say the family has owned the land since 1944. Bloom Farm can, and it shows in the old-fashioned feel. Out in Cass County farm country near Avoca, the emphasis stays on the farm side of autumn: a free tractor ride carries you out to the u-pick patch, kids burn energy on a 40-foot tube slide, an obstacle course, a corn box, rubber duck races, and a family-sized tire swing, and agricultural exhibits teach the harvest side of the season.

The Schoolhouse Cafe, set inside historic buildings, serves lunch, baked goods, and kettle corn β€” and you can shop the barn market, gift shop, and antiques or eat at the cafe without paying admission. New for 2026 is a flower field for photos, plus a Butterfly Festival in September, a Dog Day, and a teacher appreciation day. It’s dog-friendly, deliberately uncommercial, and fits into a morning or afternoon. Open Friday through Tuesday in October (closed Wednesday and Thursday); check the calendar for the September dates.
