Skinny Bones is the sweet spot between a homegrown patch and a theme park. It started with Jeff Bledsoe selling pumpkins out of his pickup at the end of the driveway in Blair; the name came from one of the five Bledsoe kids’ childhood nickname. Since opening officially in 2008, the family has built it into 138 acres of fall fun with more than 35 attractions — many built by Jeff himself.
The standouts: a 10-acre corn maze (which becomes Flashlight Night, no flashlights provided), Tornado Alley, an indoor tornado simulator, a mystery house, a spooky trail, pedal cart racing, a petting zoo, hayrack wagon rides, and real pick-your-own-pumpkin fields where you cut your pumpkin off the vine. Emmy’s Food Barn handles the fall-themed food, and the market sells local gifts. Open early September through early November; fire pit reservations and catering make it a group destination.
