Twenty minutes from Omaha, on a hillside just off Highway 75 south of Fort Calhoun, Super Bee has been growing apples for more than fifty years. The setup is refreshingly simple: no ticket booth, no admission line β check in at the store, get a bag and directions, pick your apples, pay by the pound.
The orchard stocks many varieties for fall picking, and the store keeps a spread of homemade goodies: cider donuts, fresh cider, honey, jams, and Jerryβs famous caramel apples β plus the occasional surprise like crunchy pork rinds. Dogs are welcome along the rows, the trees are stroller-accessible, and the season tends to stretch later than many orchards, often wrapping up around the weekend before Thanksgiving. Check their Facebook page for U-pick dates before you head out.
