The Arrow is the rare small-town hotel that’s both a National Register landmark and the place everyone in town actually goes. Built in 1928 in Prairie School style by architect John Latenser & Sons, it anchors downtown Broken Bow just off the city square — 23 rooms in the original building plus the newer Arrow East wing.
Inside: four murals by Tom Talbot, who kept a studio in the hotel in the 1960s, and the kind of western-elegant lobby that makes you stand up straighter. The Bonfire Grill and Pub is downstairs, which means dinner and a drink never require more than an elevator ride. Time your visit for a Third Thursday, when the square across the street fills with live music and food vendors.
Sandhills travelers take note: this is the civilized base camp for the region — Wi-Fi, HBO, covered garage parking for hail season, and Custer County’s best people-watching at breakfast.
