Seven minutes east of Lincoln, down a gravel road, Prairie Creek Inn is what happens when a historic farmstead decides to become the countryside’s living room. The centerpiece is the Leavitt House, a stone-faced 1911 home that innkeepers Bruce and Maureen Stahr rescued and moved to their farm — joined now by two more houses that sleep 30-plus across the property.
The 100 acres are the real amenity: two-plus miles of hiking trails, a stocked 12-acre lake, native prairie, and the Golden Sunset Barn, a 1900 barn that hosts everything from weddings to vow renewals. Breakfast is full and hot, and the whole operation runs on the kind of hospitality you can’t train — the Stahrs are lifelong Nebraskans who treat guests like returning family.
It’s a favorite Lincoln game-weekend escape when downtown hotels sell out — and honestly better than most of them. Some suites have private hot tubs; ask when you book.
