The building is a former Carnegie-era library — the Goodall City Library — and Second Chapter leans into it beautifully. Flight boards are old card-catalog drawers. The name is a second chapter for the building and, for owners Richard and Lisa, a second chapter for themselves.

Lake Mac Lager nods to Lake McConaughy, twenty minutes north, and the Oktoberfest celebration — stein-hoisting contest included — has become a genuine local tradition. This is a brewery that understands its town: Ogallala’s frontier history, the lake crowd in summer, the locals year-round.

It’s the rare small-town brewery with a real sense of place. The library bones make it unforgettable.
