Oliver is the lake you fish when you want to be left alone. At 270 acres on Lodgepole Creek, it gets a fraction of the pressure of the big reservoirs, and Game and Parks keeps it interesting: walleye stockings plus tiger muskies — the sterile pike-muskie hybrid stocked to hammer the rough fish — that can push 40 inches.
It’s also known as Kimball Reservoir, managed by the South Platte Natural Resources District with Game and Parks handling the fishery. There’s a concrete ramp, an accessible fishing pier, camping, and plenty of shoreline for bank anglers. Bluegill fishing is a reliable fallback when the predators won’t cooperate.
Be aware the water level fluctuates significantly — it’s a flood-control reservoir first — so boaters should use caution and check conditions. Bring everything you need; the nearest bait and groceries are back in Kimball.
