Arrowhead Meadows is the nine-holer that people drive out of their way to play. Set in the Medicine Creek Valley near Curtis, this all-grass public nine — built in 1997 — winds along Medicine Creek with a driving range, practice green, and a clubhouse that regulars praise for its hospitality. By popular accord, it’s one of the best public nine-hole courses in the state.
The details are pure small-town Nebraska golf: the par-5 3rd stretches 600 yards, Fridays mean $10 all-day golf, and at least one reviewer insists the Bloody Mary is the best anywhere. It’s inexpensive, friendly, and genuinely good — the rare combination.
Curtis is home to the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, and the course sits in some of the prettiest valley country in southwest Nebraska. Loop it twice for 18, or play it as the relaxed bookend to a Wild Horse or Bayside trip.
