Lochland is the best private golf in the Tri-Cities and one of the best-conditioned courses in the state, full stop. Established in 1962 with a David Gill design — the first nine opened that year, the second followed in 1965 — it’s a lush, tree-lined championship layout with bentgrass greens, two lakes, and more than 50 bunkers that somehow stays playable for every level.
The legend is the 18th: a Pebble Beach-type finisher with a long water carry off the tee, and the hole John Daly decided to bypass entirely — carrying the whole lake to the green-front fairway during a 1992 exhibition. Members still talk about it like it happened last week.
It’s a private, member-owned club, so you’ll need a member connection or an outing invitation to play. Guests do get through the gates on occasion, and if you manage it, the finishing hole alone is worth the trip.
