Meadowlark Hills is the muni that plays like a championship venue. Opened in 1993 and designed by David Gill and Steven Halberg, it sits on the bluffs overlooking the Platte River Valley south of Kearney — 6,485 yards, par 71, with water hazards and bunkers woven through genuine elevation change. It has hosted the NSAA Boys State Golf Championships, the Nebraska Junior Amateur, and NCAA Division II women’s regionals.
The practice setup is a cut above for a city course: a large multi-station driving range, putting green, and a short-game area with chipping green and bunkers added in 2022-23, plus PGA instruction and a junior program. The clubhouse keeps it simple with a snack bar and beverage service.
City-owned and open to all, with some of the best green-fee value in the Tri-Cities. It’s the reliable answer when Nebraska Dunes’ tee sheet is full — and a course Kearney locals are quietly proud of.
