Platteview is old-school Nebraska golf done right. Founded in 1966 in Bellevue, it’s a traditional parkland layout routed through mature oak and cottonwood trees, with lakes and genuine elevation changes — a classic setup you don’t find at many modern facilities. The greens were renovated in 2000 and have a reputation as some of the area’s finest putting surfaces, and the club has hosted qualifying rounds for the U.S. Mid-Amateur and U.S. Junior Amateur championships.
The routing is compact — closely spaced tees and greens — which makes it a genuinely pleasant walk, a rarity among championship-length courses. Members describe the hospitality as second to none, and the atmosphere is family-friendly rather than stuffy.
It’s a private club, so access comes through membership or as a member’s guest — worth knowing before you plan a trip around it. For Omaha-area golfers who prefer trees and tradition over links-style openness, this is the standard-bearer south of the metro.
