River’s Edge delivers one of the best public golf experiences in west-central Nebraska. This 18-hole layout in North Platte pairs beautifully maintained turf and lush greens with genuinely breathtaking views of the North Platte River — plus some theater: several natural and landscaped water features, including a waterfall and pond on the par-3 4th. Parts of the routing trace to Charley Johnston, the Scottish pioneer of Nebraska golf.
It strikes a rare balance: friendly enough for new golfers, with variety and challenge for veterans. The course dates to 1916, making it one of the older continuously operating layouts in the region, and it shows in the best way — mature, settled, comfortable in its own skin.
Public and affordable, right in town. Between River’s Edge, Lake Maloney, and Iron Eagle, North Platte has one of the deepest public golf lineups of any small city in the state.
