“Speedy” Bill Smith spent six decades racing, hot-rodding, and collecting, and the result is 150,000 square feet of racing history on the Speedway Motors campus in Lincoln. Vintage Indy cars, land-speed machines, pedal cars, guitars, lunch boxes — the collection sprawls past cars into full Americana.

Even people who don’t care about cars leave impressed, because the sheer density of it is the show: rare engines, one-off racers, and automobilia stacked three floors deep. Take the free guided tour if one’s running — the guides know the stories behind the one-of-a-kinds.

Hours are limited and seasonal (winter days are just Monday, Friday, Saturday), so check the site before you go. Admission is $15 for adults, and active military are free.
