Daffodil doesn’t feel like dining out; it feels like being fed by someone’s grandmother. Owner Narges Montazer is famous for it — she’ll offer you samples to help you decide, check on you three times a meal, and generally treat the dining room like her own kitchen. A customer-painted portrait of her hangs by the front door, which tells you everything about the relationship this place has with its regulars.
The food is Persian and Mediterranean: lamb shank that sells out, fesenjan (the pomegranate-walnut chicken), gormeh sabzi, gyro plates, beef meatballs, all with fragrant saffron rice, plus a dessert case of baklava and honey cake. The “good luck soup” has its own following.
Open Tuesday through Saturday, 11:30 to 8:30; closed Sunday and Monday. It’s in a strip center on Old Cheney Road, which keeps the prices moderate and the parking easy. Don’t rush — lingering is the point here.
