Francie & Finch is what happens when a lifelong bookstore lover opens her dream store. Leslie Huerta spent 30 years in the corporate world, went to bookselling school in Florida, and in 2016 took over the abandoned dark-green telegraph building at 130 S 13th. The name honors two of her favorite literary girls: Francie Nolan from “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” and Scout Finch from “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

Inside: curated new books for all ages, original local art for sale, giftable trinkets, and the “F&F Imports” — translated novels from other countries. Author talks and book launches fill the calendar (UNL Press has launched Nebraska books here), and the staff are the kind of readers who remember what you bought last time. Free gift-wrapping, special orders welcome.

It sits between the Marriott Cornhusker and the performing-arts venues, so pre-show browsing is a thing. Open weekdays 10–5:30, Saturdays noon–4, closed Sundays.
