Good Evans takes breakfast seriously. This is chef-inspired, scratch-cooked morning food: chicken fried steak and biscuits with gravy that regulars call the best in the area, sweet potato pancakes, shrimp and grits, avocado toast, and house-made pop-tarts that bear no resemblance to the foil-wrapped kind. Everything’s made with real ingredients and actual care, and it shows.
The room is cozy and kid-friendly, the coffee program goes beyond drip (the café breve gets mentioned a lot), and there’s a second location in Kearney — both Nebraska-born. It’s in the Clock Tower Shopping Center on A Street, which means easy parking and a crowd that plans around it.
Weekends mean a wait — 30 minutes after church on Sunday is normal — and regulars will tell you it’s worth it. No reservations, so go early or go on a weekday. Open daily 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., breakfast and lunch only.
