Saturday mornings in Lincoln have a default setting: the Haymarket Farmers’ Market. From early May through mid-October, 8 a.m. to noon, the brick streets fill with more than 100 vendors — produce straight from the farm, cut flowers, bakery cases, meat and eggs, and Nebraska-made crafts — while local musicians play the Performance Showcase and the district’s restaurants and shops open early for the crowds.
This isn’t a tourist sideshow; it’s where Lincoln actually shops and socializes. Chefs buy here, families make it their Saturday routine, and the recipe-swapping between strangers is half the fun. It’s the city’s main social and culinary event every week of the season, full stop.
Get there before 10 for the best selection and easiest parking — the garages fill up. Bring cash for the smaller vendors (many take cards now, but not all), bring a tote, and plan on breakfast from one of the stalls or a Haymarket café afterward.
