The Parthenon is the real thing. Brothers George and Mike Kazas — second-generation, family from Chios — opened it on November 7, 2002, after their parents ran a downtown café for twenty years, and it’s been Lincoln’s Greek home base ever since. The menu runs the full taverna playbook: saganaki flamed in brandy right at your table, gyros, lamb, moussaka, spanakopita, plus vegan entrees and a kids’ menu that stays Greek instead of defaulting to chicken fingers.
Saturday nights are the signature: live Greek music, belly dancing, and the plate-breaking tradition that turns dinner into a party. The dining room does the Mediterranean right — string lights, wine bottles, the Hasaposervika and the Zorba — and regulars will tell you the lemon-baked Greek potatoes are non-negotiable.
It’s in the Edgewood Shopping Center at 56th and Highway 2, which means easy parking and a crowd that plans ahead. Most dishes land in the moderate range; the experience is priceless. Come hungry, stay late, and don’t be shy about joining the dancing.
