Blackstone is Omaha’s comeback story. Named for the 1916 Blackstone Hotel — now the Kimpton Cottonwood — the district along Farnam Street went from faded to the city’s buzziest dining corridor in under a decade. The hotel’s restoration set the tone: historic bones, modern energy.

Eat your way down Farnam: Coneflower Creamery’s farm-to-cone ice cream, the neighborhood’s clutch of chef-driven restaurants, and the Cottonwood Room’s cocktails in the hotel lobby. The Reuben sandwich was supposedly invented at the old Blackstone during a weekly poker game — the hotel’s steakhouse, The Committee, is named for the card players.

It’s walkable, it’s pretty, and it’s the best answer to “where should we eat tonight” in Omaha right now. Come hungry.
