Dundee is the neighborhood Omahans name when they’re showing off. Developed in the early 1900s as a streetcar suburb, it’s all big front porches, mature trees, and a genuine small-town main street on Underwood Avenue. Warren Buffett still lives here, in the same house he bought in 1958.
Underwood is the draw: the Dundee Dell — Omaha’s oldest pub, with its famous fish and chips and a wall of Scotch — sits a few doors from Avoli Osteria, the city’s best Northern Italian spot. Bookshops, coffeehouses, and Pitch Pizzeria’s coal-fired pies fill out the strip.
It’s a daytime neighborhood: stroll, shop, eat lunch, admire the houses. Dundee Day, the annual neighborhood festival, is the best time to see it at full charm.
