Jackson Street Booksellers is a real used bookstore, the kind that’s getting rare: floor-to-ceiling shelves of used, rare, and out-of-print titles, with a deep bench in scholarly subjects — art, architecture, history, literature, philosophy. It’s been buying and selling since 1993, and the stock turns over constantly.
The aisles are tight, the shelves are packed, and that’s the point. This is a browser’s shop: you come in for one thing and leave with five you didn’t know you needed. The staff knows the stock and can actually help you find things, which in a shop this dense is a genuine skill.
Give yourself an hour minimum. It’s the best bookstore in the Old Market and one of the best used shops in the Midwest.
