The RiverFront is the biggest thing to happen to downtown Omaha in decades: three parks β€” the Gene Leahy Mall (reopened 2022), Heartland of America Park, and Lewis & Clark Landing β€” stitched together along the Missouri River into one continuous public space. Skating ribbon in winter, splash pads and concert lawns in summer, and the Bob Kerrey Bridge connecting it all to Iowa.

It’s genuinely well done. The landscaping is ambitious, the public art is good, and on a summer evening the whole thing hums β€” families at the playgrounds, runners on the trails, crowds at the performance pavilion. Maha Festival now calls Heartland of America Park home.

Park once and walk the whole system; it’s all connected. The riverfront is at its best at golden hour, and the downtown skyline views from the bridge are the postcard shot.
