Windcrest is now Capriolo — same vineyard at 3110 W Branched Oak Road, new name and new chapter. The backstory is pure Nebraska wine: Dale and Jan Lillyhorn planted 35 acres in the late 1990s as growers for James Arthur Vineyards, selling grapes for years before opening their own production and tasting room in 2008.

That grower-first history shows in the wines — these are people who learned the vineyard before they learned the label. The patio looks out over the countryside north of Lincoln, and the tasting room pours a wide range made from the estate fruit.

For James Arthur loyalists, it’s a fascinating second stop: taste what the growers’ own wines taste like, ten minutes down the road.
