Feather River is a family operation growing 18 grape varieties across 22 acres west of North Platte — one of the larger plantings in western Nebraska, in the hills of the southern Platte Valley. Owners Jeff and Connie Brittan (with Kurt and Jeanne Pieper) have been at it since the vines went in back in 2001.
The tasting room runs daily 1 to 6 (till 8 on Fridays), with weekend live music through the season. It’s a scenic, unhurried stop — the Loess Hills setting does a lot of the work, and the wines do the rest.
West of North Platte on State Farm Road, it’s an easy add to any I-80 crossing — and a reminder that Nebraska wine country extends well past the eastern counties.
