The origin story is charming: Darin and Karen Placke honeymooned in Napa Valley in 1998, came home to Nebraska wanting their own vines, and started with eight test plants. When family land came up for auction in 2003, they bought it β and turned a former corn, watermelon, and pumpkin field into a six-acre vineyard on sandy loam.
The name comes from the work itself: late nights laboring in the vineyard well after dark, under a shimmering moon. The tasting room is a beauty β cathedral ceiling, fifteen-foot stone fireplace, hardwood floors, and an expansive deck overlooking the vines.
Six minutes north of Grand Island on Highway 281, itβs the easiest winery stop on the central I-80 corridor β and one of the prettiest rooms in the region.
