Established 2003, Prairie Creek runs vineyards in rural Merrick County and pours in a tasting room right on Highway 30 in downtown Central City — you can’t miss it, there’s a giant wine bottle on the building. The tasting room doubles as a restaurant, serving appetizers and supper alongside the wines.
It’s a working model that suits the town: wine tasting that’s also dinner, in a room that’s as much community gathering spot as tourist stop. The wines cover the expected Nebraska range, poured by people who know the vines personally.
Central City sits on the Lincoln-Grand Island corridor, making this an easy, worthwhile detour off I-80.
