Too Far North isn’t a winery — it’s better described as Nebraska wine’s embassy near Omaha. The official Nebraska Winery & Grape Growers Association tasting room closest to the metro, pouring wines (and beers) from producers across the state, run since 2005 by Sandy Kucera.
Sandy is the draw as much as the wine: every tasting starts with a conversation, and she knows the growers, the grapes, and the stories behind every bottle. The room itself is a museum of Nebraska beer history — a century-old brick building that was once a saloon for the pioneering Metz Brothers Brewing Company, its faded ghost sign still on the wall, decorated with vintage finds and, memorably, a velvet Elvis.
Across the parking lot, the Cure butcher shop covers provisions. Twenty minutes north of Omaha on the Lewis & Clark Scenic Byway — the single best introduction to Nebraska wine for the curious.
