Free Day is a nod to the family name: Nate and Stacey Freitag (Freitag being German for Friday) grow popcorn on their Nebraska family farm, where Nate’s father has been cultivating popcorn since the 1980s. They started the company in 2015 and haven’t looked back.
Everything is non-GMO and Star-K Kosher, from mushroom popcorn for caramel corn to classic butterfly for movie nights, in sizes up to 50-pound bulk bags. There’s a retail shop at the warehouse in Byron, open select days each month — generally a few Wednesday mornings and a Saturday — with hours posted on their Facebook page, so check before you make the trip. You can also order online with local pickup.
