Freed Produce Farms is Jenny Freed’s specialty-crop offshoot of Freed Brothers Farms, a Phelps County operation with a century behind it. She started in 2018 with an acre of pumpkins, gourds, ornamental corn, and sweet corn, then added tomatoes and peppers — and the farm stand on Nobes Street has been the in-town face of it since.
Her background is in horticulture and entomology (master’s in plant-insect interactions), and it shows in the growing: drip irrigation, intercropping, and pesticides only when necessary and targeted. The stand runs weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings in season — fresh, local, and self-serve.
