The Kearney Area Farmers Market has been at it since the 1970s, a nonprofit pulling growers from Buffalo and surrounding counties within a 125-mile radius. At peak season you’ll find up to 50 vendors in the Hilltop Mall parking lot on Saturday mornings, plus a Wednesday afternoon market from June on.
It’s one of the few markets in the state accepting SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks (which matches EBT fruit-and-vegetable purchases dollar for dollar, up to $20 a day). The Center for Rural Affairs partners on chef demos and taste testings, so it’s as much a food-education event as a shopping trip.
