Wenninghoff’s has been the Wenninghoff family’s farm in Omaha since 1956 — four generations of it — and it’s the closest thing the metro has to a working farm you can shop at year-round. The produce store runs late June through the season with 30-plus varieties, and the greenhouses crank out over 100,000 bedding plants and hanging baskets each spring.
The farm market also stocks jarred honey and jam, meats, and eggs from other local producers, and the CSA runs 15 weeks through the summer. Come fall, there’s a pumpkin patch and field trips; there’s a pick-your-own flower field and a kids’ zone with bunnies and chickens. For a lot of northwest Omaha families, this is simply where produce comes from.
